The Goodis Center for Research and Reform, Inc., is dedicated to our mission of advancing and protecting human rights. We are a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization organized under the laws of the State of Maryland and the United States of America.
Please note that some of our records will also be available on GuideStar.
Disclaimer
We are a small organization, with little funding and no full-time staff as of yet. Our Board of Directors is actively engaged in developing The Goodis Center so that we can better achieve our goals. In the meantime, please note that any requests for information may take longer to process due to a staffing shortage. Maryland law generally gives us 30 days to fulfill requests for financial documents. We will be working to post all relevant documents under this page of our website to reduce the need for requests and the corresponding burden on our team.
Standards for Excellence
The Goodis Center is committed to the standards of transparency set forth in the Standards for Excellence. We are also working to structure our organization to fulfill all areas of the Standards for Excellence, including (1) Mission, Strategy, and Evaluation; (2) Leadership: Board, Staff, and Volunteers; (3) Legal Compliance and Ethics; (4) Finance and Operations; (5) Resource Development; and (6) Public Awareness, Engagement, and Advocacy.
As our organization develops, and as our resources permit, we will strive to comply with these principles of nonprofit operation, and to demonstrate our commitment by earning accreditation from Maryland Nonprofits and other accrediting bodies.
Required Disclosure
A copy of the current financial statement of The Goodis Center is available by contacting us directly by mail, fax, or phone. We will try to honor requests submitted by email, but suggest that email inquiries should only be submitted in tandem with a fax, phone, or mailed request. Documents and information submitted under the Maryland Solicitations Act are also available, for the cost of postage and copies, from the Maryland Secretary of State, State House, Annapolis MD 21401, (410) 974-5534.
Document Library
We are currently organizing our documents and preparing them for publication to the website. We expect to finish that process over the summer of 2015. When completed, we will make our documents available here.
This library will include copies of our Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, IRS Determination Letters, Forms 990*, Annual Reports, and other legal and financial records.
*Please note that The Goodis Center has filed Forms 990-N with the IRS since receiving recognition of our 501(c)(3) status. These forms are much less detailed than standard Forms 990, or even 990-EZ. Our Board of Directors is working to prepare a more comprehensive financial report for each year where we have filed a 990-N. These documents may not be available until late-2015.
